Lisa Brown
Lisa Brown is Assistant Director for Teaching and Learning Systems at the University of Rochester, where she has supported the institution’s teaching and learning mission since 1996. Her work in higher education information technology emphasizes collaboration, customer service, and the thoughtful use of technology to enhance instruction and academic success. Lisa earned her doctorate from the Warner School of Education in 2016 and also serves as an adjunct instructor, further informing her approach to supporting instructional staff.
A longtime member of ACM SIGUCCS, Lisa began attending conferences in 1997 and has contributed as a volunteer, presenter, conference chair, board member, and executive committee member. Her sustained service, leadership, and commitment to community building reflect the values recognized by the SIGUCCS Hall of Fame.
Laurie Fox
Laurie Fox is Director of Educational Technology at SUNY Geneseo, where she leads classroom technology, instructional design, online faculty development, digital media services, and performance‑venue operations. A long‑time SIGUCCS volunteer, Laurie has served on the Executive Committee (Information Director, Chair and Past Chair), been a member of the ACM SIG Governing Board, and contributed to conference committees, marketing, and the SIGUCCS Book Club.
Laurie attended her first SIGUCCS conference in 2006, where she presented and volunteered as a session chair. That event in Edmonton sparked her ongoing commitment to volunteering for the organization and future conferences. Since then, Laurie has authored or co-authored 19 papers in the ACM Digital Library and has presented at nearly every conference. Some highlights of her involvement include implementing the first conference mobile app, co-founding the book club, and encouraging (sometimes by “voluntelling”) others to present and volunteer at SIGUCCS.
Named an ACM Senior Member in 2021, Laurie is also recognized this year with the Penny Crane Award for sustained service, collaborative leadership, and practical contributions to higher‑ed IT.
Hideo Masuda

Hideo Masuda is a Professor at the Center for ICT Services at the Kyoto Institute of Technology in Japan. He has devoted his career to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) environments in higher education.
Working alongside Professors Naomi Fujimura and Takashi Yamanoue—both inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016—Masuda is part of what they jokingly call the “Idiots Trio” (三バカトリオ): a group of professionals who willingly tackle the difficult, complex problems that others tend to avoid.
Masuda began his tenure at Osaka University’s Educational Center for Information Processing (now the D3 Center, Information Media Education Research Division) in 1998, where he designed and built a large-scale diskless Linux system to support information education for approximately 700 workstations. After transferring to the Kyoto Institute of Technology in 2005, he has played a central role in the design, construction, and operation of the university’s entire information network infrastructure, supporting both education and research. He has regularly shared this work with the international community, beginning with his first presentation at the ACM SIGUCCS Annual Conference in 2005 in Monterey.
Since becoming Director of the Center for Information Science (now the Center for ICT Services) in 2016, Masuda has been especially committed to empowering technical staff—still a rarity in Japan—to present at international conferences and participate in global professional exchanges. He is also an active member of the Internet and Operation Technology Research Group (SIG-IOT), the Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ), and serves on the committee of the ACM SIGUCCS Tokyo Local Chapter.
