Professional Development
How can SIGUCCS support your professional development?
- Become more more successful at your own institution by learning from your SIGUCCS colleagues.
- Attend the annual SIGUCCS conference and learn strategies and solutions to problems like yours, through formal presentations and informal discussions.
- Check ACM's Digital Library to see if someone else has solved a problem before you develop your own solution. The Digital Library contains the proceedings from past service and support conferences.
- Participate in SIGUCCS e-mail disscussion lists and social networks and engage with your colleagues to solve timely problems.
Engage with colleagues in some of these ways.
- If you have a problem that is not addressed in the conference program, set up an informal discussion session through a BoF (“Birds of a Feather".) Reserve a room for your BoF session at the Registration desk and start a sign-up sheet for others so you will have a place and time to gather for your discussion.
- Participate in SIGUCCS e-mail disscussion lists and social networks and engage with your colleagues to solve timely problems.
- Use the break times and social events at conferences to meet people from other institutions, share your knowledge and expertise, and learn from them.
Advance professionally.
- As a SIGUCCS volunteer you will contribute to your profession as well as gain skills that you might have the opportunity to obtain elsewhere. Volunteers are needed to make SIGUCCS and its conferences successful.
- Learn from and obtain mentoring from senior SIGUCCS colleagues.
